Feasibility Study is ON!

We'll it's official now. We have funding for the feasibility study thanks to the Hyde Family Foundation. The study should be undertaken in the next few weeks so we'll see how that goes.

But for now- go celebrate!!!

This is a HUGE step towards the skate park becoming a reality. It doesn't guarantee that the park will be funded but Foundations don't typically sign onto loser projects. The Hydes are quite particular about funding projects that have a long term positive impact on the city. That's the mission of our project so it's a good fit.

The next phase to start thinking about is the design of the park. But we'll save that for another day....

It would be helpful to get your input for the masterplans...

You deserve an awful lot of credit for your much-needed set of skills in Memphis - vision and persistence to get it implemented. Congratulations. We're getting our insurance updated to make sure we're there opening day.

i saw a group of about twenty kids--all different ages--skateboarding outside the old post office/soon to be law school on front street today. it was awesome! i could just picture them skating over the bridge to the new skate park!

which, by the way, i think should include an outdoor roller derby rink!! FOR REAL!

The tip of Mud Island would make the perfect rink.

We were thinking that a rollerskate/rollerblade path
around the skateboarding area would be nice. Additionally, the skatepark will be "roller-friendly".

We definitely want the dirby girls to have their say in the design!

seriously?? cool!

we can skate on flat concrete and our rink really is not that big. we are homeless right now and really need a place to skate!! i can get you whatever specifics you need!!

:)

could you send me the dimensions?

We can always try. The tip was not included in the proposal but I can bring it up.

At the very least you'll be able to roller skate around and in the skatepark.
