When we first met with the Hyde foundation back in March, we submitted this overview for plans and operations for the skate park.
If you would like to read it, you can download it now. If after reading it you would like to make some additional suggestions please leave a comment and we'll work it into the master plan. We want this to be as democratic as possible and we know that we have likely failed to think of some other considerations or ideas.

can't get the pdf to open...
If you are on a MAC it should work on
Safari or Firefox
For a PC I opened it with Explorer.
You may need to right click on the link to download the file to your desktop and then open it with Acrobat.
Hope that helps.
ok i got it--thanks.
i'm kind of hung up on there being a fee. like you say most outdoor parks are free and even small fees could be a deterant. what about the youth that go to different schools or don't have access to the programs included in your plan?
mud island is free and the skatepark(s) should be too.
find another way to fund the equipment benefits. i.e. through donations, annual events/funraisers, etc.
Yeah, having a fee opens a big can of worms.
For the sake of keeping it simple I think we are definitely leaning towards not having one.
As long as the bill for having
lights on at night is paid and regular maintenance of the park is covered then perhaps a fee-less park is better.
If there was a fee, it would be no more then $5.00. Or perhaps a $50-100 annual membership. In regards to the other schools it would just be a matter of getting them on-board with the program. The fee, just gives that much more weight to the idea of getting a skate-scholarship to an inner city skater. I am always looking to have philanthropic actions built into the operations of a place rather then relying on fundraising. IMO it's a great model that a lot more corporations should adhere to.
In the end, we'll make it fair as possible - but my bias is towards the ones who would normally not be there.
Thanks for the suggestions Stacey!
